Enrichment

Enrichment is defined as, the action of improving or enhancing the quality or value of something. Think about some of your dog’s favorite activities -including sniffing, chewing, running, fetching, and digging. While these behaviors could be potentially problematic in a human context, they are basic biological needs that have to be met in order to release excess energy, relieve stress, and improve your dog’s quality of life.  Since most of us aren’t too keen on Fido meeting those needs by eating the sofa, digging up the flower beds, or chasing the cats, we rely on enrichment to provide constructive outlets that allow our dogs to be dogs.  We all know physical exercise is a must, add in enrichment to expel that excess mental energy, and usher in a happy well-balanced dog.
